WILLIAMSTON -- Douglas Joel Ellison, 87, of 607 Forester Road died Monday, March 29, 2004, at Anderson Area Medical Center.
Born in Anderson County, he was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and served in the Pacific Theratre, retired from Douglas J. Ellison Builders Inc. in Hendersonville, N.C. and was a member of Whitefield Baptist Church.
Surviving are widow, Bobbie Osteen Ellison of the home; sisters, Doris Beddingfield of Pisgah Forest, N.C., Edith Whitlock and Thelma Fetner, both of Williamston; and a brother, Jerald Ellison of Williamston.
He was the son of the late Miley R. and Della Breazeale Ellison. He was preceded in death by sisters, Kathleen Martin, Gladys McAlister and Luvia Thompson; and brothers Hulet Ellison, Kenneth Ellison and Williams Hoke Ellison.
Services are at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Gray Mortuary Chapel, Pelzer, by the Rev. D. Lewis Staton; burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
The family is at the home and will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home before the service.
