Jacob was the seventh child of Josuah and Rachael Tower Bates. He was born in Hingham, MA. Aug. 20, 1710. Jacob was the youngest of the siblings, all of which were born in Hingham, MA. All is recorded in the History of Hingham, Volume 2 pgs. 39-43 The book was published by the Town of Hingham in 1893. Jacob served as a Constable in 1745. Later in life he moved to Attleboro and then to Dudley.
Jacob married Marah (Mary, Molly) Clark as recorded in the old records of Cohassets, MA. on Nov. 19, 1730. She was the daughter of John and Rebecca (Lincoln)Clark. Rebecca Lincoln is an ancestor of Abraham Lincoln, our 16th President.
All the Children were born in Hingham, Mass.
