Louis J. Close, 57, of 770 E. Albert Dr., Manitowoc, died Friday morning at St. Vincent Hospital, Green Bay. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Pfeffer Funeral Home and 10 a.m. at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Richard Verhasselt will officiate with burial in Calvary Cemetery, Two Rivers. Graveside military services will be accorded Mr. Close by Charles Karlin Amvets Post No. 23. Mr. Close was born Aug. 25, 1919, at Neva, Wis., son of the late George and Rose Strasser Close, moving to Manitowoc with his family in 1929 and was graduated from Lincoln High School with the Class of 1937. He married Catherine Karlin Aug. 26, 1939, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Manitowoc. He was a veteran of World War II, serving from May 24, 1944 to Feb. 1, 1946 with the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific. For 15 years he had been employed as a service representative for Chrysler Corporation, retiring in 1975. At the present time he was district manager for Subaru Mid-America of Elk Grove Village, Ill. Survivors include his wife, two sons and daughters-in-law, a daughter and son-in-law, two brothers, two sisters and six grandchildren (all names omitted for privacy). A daughter, Katherine and a sister, Mrs. Evelyn Leyendecker preceded him in death.
