The History of Daviess County page 841, states that Ed Goodwin was a Justice of the Peace of Vanover Precinct. A native of Jefferson Co Kentucky, he was bought up on a farm, but learned to be a blacksmith from his father and worked at that trade for ten years. In 1870 he engaged in the Mercantile and Tobacco trade. In 1871 he married Dora Miller, they had two daughters Emma M and Lavinia. Ed Goodwin was a magistrate of the Vanover precinct for sixteen years and was in good standing with the Masonic fraternity.
Dora Miller Goodwin passed away in 1878 at her parents home in McLean County and is buried in the Family Cemetery on the farm her parents lived on. In the cemetery is a part of a stone that has Goodwin on it. I am trying to find out who that stone might have belonged to. Her youngest child was 10 months old, and it appears that her brother died that same year. Did she have a third child that could possibly have contacted the same illness that took Dora and her brother. Any help would be appreciated.
