Jonathan and Elizabeth (Scherer) are recorded in "Journals of Henry Melchior Muhlenberg". Rev. Muhlenberg was a Lutheran pastor in Philadelphia Pa area. Volume 3 is where several of Jonathan's children's births are recorded for Trappe and Augusta Lutheran Church, in Providence Township, Philadelphia County, PA (now Montgomery Co, PA). The early censuses of VA show these same children listed. His two eldest sons were named for their grandfathers, Valentine Scherer, and David Boulton. He appeared to have left PA between 1786 (birth of Elizabeth in PA) and 1792 (birth of Godfrey in VA)

MARRIAGE: Jonathan Bolton and Elizabeth Scherer married March 27 1773. St. Michael's and Zion Church. Record of Pennsylvania Marriages prior to 1810 Vol. II 1880. p. 351

TAX: Jonathan is shown in Tax record for Limerick, Montgomery, PA, from 1779 to 1783. He may have lived for a short while in the 1780s in Derry, Dauphin, PA.

SERVICE: Jonathan Bolton is a recognized Patriot of the Amer. Rev. for providing supplies to the troops

MARRIAGE: On April 4 1808 Jonathan Bolton m. Barbara Fulz. She was widow of Sebastian Fultz/Fulz. They had no children together.

DEATH: Jonathan Bolton died before 1816 when his land or estate was settled by Andrew McCellan and a bond of $100 was put up by Hugh Bruffy, found p. 30 Abstracts of Exec. 1778-1864 by Marguerite Priode.

BURIED: He is buried possibly at Bethel Church or St. John's at at Keezletown VA. His son is at the former and his second wife is at the latter.
