Helen V. Coste, 92 formerly of Hinton, WV, died Saturday August 24, 2013 at her home in Lewisburg, WV.

Born October 2, 1920 in Hinton, she was the daughter of the late Thomas A. and Lula M. Jones also of Hinton.

Mrs. Coste together with her husband Jim were pioneers in the cable television industry, having built one of the first systems in the United States at Hinton in 1953. She was an active participant in the business until it was sold in 1988.

Mrs. Coste was a successful businesswoman in her own right as she established Helen's Antique and gift shop which was located on the second floor of the Hinton Television Corporation building on Temple Street. After moving to Lewisburg she opened and ran the gift shop at the Greenbrier Valley Airport and later moved her business to Helen's Antiques and Gifts on Washington Street.

Mrs. Coste was very active and held various offices in the New River Travel Council which was established to promote tourism in the TRI-County area of Summers, Raleigh and Mercer.

Helen was a member of Saint Patrick's Catholic Church and for many years was very active in the Catholic Daughters of America.

She is preceded in death by her husband James who passed away on June 3, 1996. Survivors include their three children, Lynda Coste Pellegrin of Morgantown, Regina Ann Coste of Newport News, VA and James V. Costa of Talcott; grandchildren Helen Mary Hathaway of Spottswood, Va , Christopher E. Honaker of Morgantown, Larry East Coste of Cincinnati, OH and Martin James Coste Konkel of Richmond, VA. There are two great granddaughter Olivia Katelyn Hathaway of Spottswood, VA. and Amber E. Coste of Raleigh, NC. Nieces include Mary Ellen Honaker of Hnton, Hildred Allard, Marsha Louise Schmidt, Elaine Burk Cerda, Judy Jo Scudiere and Janna Scudiere. Nephews include John Providenti, Doug Jones and Allen Houchins.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday August 28, 2013 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Hinton with Father Rey Landicho as celebrant. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the church. Rite of Committal will be in the Coste Family Crypt at Restwood Memorial Gardens in Hinton.

Pallbearers will be James Costa, Christopher Honaker, Larry E. Coste, Nathan Hathaway, Martin Konkel Gary Gurganus and Robert B. Holt, Col. Ret

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick Catholic Church, 309 2nd Ave. Hinton, WV 25951.
