Letitia Sessums's obituary was found in the Marlow, Oklahoma newspaper; it was shared with me by Saundra Mackey, a very helpful and gracious genealogist in Duncan, Oklahoma. The date of the obituary was June 4, 1928. Lettisha 's given name is spelled variously according to source. In her own handwriting, this is how she spelled her name "Lettisha ".

Gone To Heaven
Mrs. Letitia Vance Sessums was born in Ireland the year of 1844, moved with her parents to our country in 1845. Settled in Mississippi, later moved to Texas. Was born the second time of her Heavenly Parent, joined the Baptist church. Since that time she has been loyal to her country, her God, her neighbor and her church.

When sixteen years old, was married to John Sessums. To this union was born thirteen children, nine living to be grandparents, forty grandchildren , fifty-three great grandchildren and twelve great great grandchildren. The deceased is survived by the following six children: Mrs. J. H. Freeman, living north of Duncan; Mrs. A. B. Goodwin, of Panhandle, Texas; Mrs. N. A. Owen, Shamrock, Texas; Mrs. Lily Baxter, Purcell, Oklahoma; Tom Sessums, McMillan, Oklahoma and John Sessums of Marlow.

She was the grandmother of Mrs. John Hines of Rush Springs, whom she raised from infancy. Grandmother of Mrs. Jimmie Palmer of Duncan. Had been living with her daughter, Mrs. Freeman, fives miles south of Marlow.

Mrs. Sessums always had a smile for everybody. She brought gladness and love to those she met in life.

She was a real mother to all. The friends she leaves are too numerous to mention. Her funeral was conducted by Elder L. H. Shockley of Marlow. Arrangements were made by the Grooms and Rangeley Funeral Home, and services were held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Freeman, 5 miles north of Duncan, Saturday morning. Burial was made in the Duncan Cemetery.

Gravesite Details

I've decided that Letitia is buried in the Ego-Coleman cemetery with her husband, John R. Sessums. Because the service was in Marlow, there may be no other reasonable explanation for her whereabouts. She may even share the same headstone.
