Elmo Fayetta Barnett Daugherty Arthurs, 90, of Brookville, died at 4:40 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, 2003, at Jefferson Manor in Brookville.

Born June 1, 1913, in Cottage Hill, Porter Township, Clarion County, she was a daughter of Merle and Laura Cathcart Barnett.

Mrs. Arthurs was employed at G.C. Murphy in Brookville and was a pioneer employee of DeMan's Sporting Goods in Brookville, where she retired. She was a former tax assessor in Brookville Borough. She was a member of the Brookville Evangelical United Methodist Church, where she was active for many years, serving as church treasurer and many other offices. Mrs. Arthurs was active in the Brookville community as a volunteer for the food pantry, a member of the Jefferson Manor Auxiliary, longtime volunteer with the Jefferson County Youth Evangelism and serving as a cook at the youth summer camps. She also served as a missionary to Haiti and to Native American schools in Arizona. She had a personal motto that if she hadn't helped anyone that day, she hadn't accomplished anything.
