Death came to Mrs. Mary A. Arnold, the wife of F. C. Arnold, a pioneer wood and coal dealer of this city, yesterday afternoon. Her demise followed an extended illness with sarcoma, which had kept her confined to her home at 66 Washington street since last September.
The deceased was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Muth of Fond du Lac, her father having been chief of the fire department at that city years ago. She was born in Germany, December 25, 1852, but was brought to this country by her parents while still a young girl. Mrs. Arnold was not yet sixty years of age. The Muths settled first at Burlington, but removed to Fond du Lac in the early '60's.
During the period of the civil war and the years that followed, the deceased was a resident of Fond du Lac. On Oct 1, 1873, she became the bride of Frederick C. Arnold, and the couple came to reside in this city. Mrs. Arnold's father passed away twelve years ago, and her mother died in this city on New Year's day, 1908.
The deceased was a member of the First Congregational church of this city, and was also affiliated with a number of lodge and church societies. In recent years, when she became unable to attend to her lodge duties, she discontinued her membership in them but continued a member of the church and of the church organizations.
Surviving are the husband, two sons, and four brothers, The sons are August J. Arnold and Fred F. Arnold, who are both residents of this city. The brothers are Jacob Muth of Menominee, MI, Chris Muth of Manitowoc, WI, and George and August Muth, both of Fond du Lac. There are also two uncles surviving, August Spies of Menominee, MI, and George Muth of Deshler, NE.

Smith, pastor of the First Congregational church, will be in charge of the services. The remains will be laid to rest at Riverside cemetery. Friends are requested to omit sending flowers.
