Thomas was the 7th of 12 children born to Thomas Wainwright and Ann Bengry in Ludlow, Shropshire.
Thomas, his siblings, and parents lived above his father's shop, no.1 Bull Ring, Ludlow (pictured left). His father was a saddler and harness maker and by 1901 Thomas had joined his father in the business. l know Thomas was still at the shop in 1934.
There is a commemorative stone to Thomas, laid into the floor of St Laurence's Church, Ludlow (pictured left), the inscription reads:
Thomas Wainwright
1887 - 1989
"A friend and generous benefactor to this church"
Thomas died aged 101.
Possibly resting in St. Laurence's Churchyard, Ludlow.
