PITTSFIELD, BERKSHIRE Co., MA - Mr. John Foster Jr. ( 84y ) d: May 28, 1976 - of 348 Cloverdale St. died this morning at Hillcrest Hospital following a short illness. Born in Albany, N.Y., son of John and Nellie Scace Foster Sr. he lived in Richmond for a time. He served in the Army during the Mexican border clash and again guring World War I as a sergeant in the Yankee Division Company F. in France. Upon his return from the Army he became a farmer operating the Cloverdale Farm in West Pittsfield. During World War II he worked in the tank shop of the General Electric Co. and then returned to farming until his retirement several years ago. Mr. Foster was a member of the Immanuel Community Church, the American Legion Post 48, and the oldes member of the Scace Family Assocation at the time of his death. He was also a deputie sheriff. Beside his wife, the former Lena Nash to whom he was married 56 years in April, he leaves a son, John F. Foster of Richmond two daughters, Mrs. Hazel E. Johnston of Lee and Mrs. Lois F. Dartt of Scota, N.Y., 15 grandchildren and 17 great - grandchildren. END:
