Parents to consider (w/correct name spelling):

Jonathan & Phebe (Runnels) Dwinnels married 4 Jun 1785 at Bradford, Massachusetts, at the right time Abigail was born. James was born 15 Feb 1787 at Bradford. Jonathan died 4 Feb 1821 at Andover, Massachusetts and was buried at Bradford. Abigail's marriage to Jedidiah Barker was given as Bradford, Boston, and Andover (in actuality, they were married at Boston). So Jonathan and Phebe are the strongest candidates for parentage, and Abigail was most likely born abt Feb/Mar 1786. She will have for (known) sibs, James and Polly.

I strongly expect Jonathan to be a brother of Joseph Dwinnels. Joseph married Ruth Whittier 10 Jun 1791 at Bradford and they had their children at Haverhill. Joseph was also at Andover, and he and Jonathan maintained a close relationship. Joseph died in the army 1813 at New York and Ruth (Whittier) Dwinnels died 11 Dec 1816 at Bradford. Joseph is the son of James & Abigail Bailey (Platts) Dwinnels. But he and Ruth married too late to be Abigail's parents. I think what happened was the gene's wrote down some information they found, had a bad time with the records, and forgot to go back on it.

The geneology given in "Dunnel Geneaology", pg 28, is somewhat correct, but in total is incorrect. Dates and people information is twisted and missing. The book gives Moses and Irene to be the children of James & Abigial (Platts) Dwinnels, when in fact Irene is the dau of Moses and Moses is the son of Joseph & Ruth (Whittier) Dwinnels. Joseph, the father of Moses is the son of James and Abigail. Moses is their grandson, and Irene is their great-granddaughter.

I have weeded out all possibilities of parentage and Jonathan and Phebe are the only viable prospects.
