Robert D. Aitken, 82, of Durand, died Tuesday, May 2, 1989, at Chippewa Valley
Hospital. He was born in the town of Nelson, Buffalo County, and married Pearl
Brees June 30, 1934, at Winona MN. She died in 1967. They lived in Spring Valley
and Durand. He worked for a California shipbuilding company during World War II,
moving back to Durand in 1946, where he worked for lumberyards and as a
carpenter. Survivors include a companion of the past 20 years, Elsie Gray; two
daughters, Shirley Buchanan of Sauk Center, and Donna Hanson of Nelson; 11
grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Services were held at 11 a.m.
Thursday at Cascade Cemetery Chapel, rural Nelson with burial in the cemetery.
Arrangements were by Goodrich Funeral Home.
