WALLACE AITKEN, DIES AT AGE 84

Wallace Aitken, 84, Lake City, died at the Lake City Hospital October 15. Mr. Aitken was born Dec 20, 1901, in Nelson, WI, to Mr. and Mrs. Edward Aitken. He married the former Helen Schumann on Sept 26, 1923, in rural Lake City. He was employed by Farmers Elevator, on construction and at Tennant & Hoyt for 30 years. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and the Lake City Volunteer Fire Department for 32 years.

Survivors include his widow: one son, Marlyn, Wabasha; four daughters, Mrs. Lloyd (Lois) Haglund, Oronoco, Mrs. Arlene Clare of Lake City, Mrs. Joyce Baringer of Wauconda, IL and Mrs. Ruth Mitchell of Red Wing: 15 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren and one brother, Robert, Durand, WI. He was preceded in death by one son, three sisters and two grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bethany Lutheran Church with Pastor Donald Schoewe officiating. Burial was in St. John's Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ronald and Roger Haglund, Dan, Tim and Don Aitken, and David Mitchell. The Lake City Fire Department were honorary pallbearers. The Peterson-Sheehan Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
