Mr. Henry W. Chambers Died Yesterday Morning in Augusta.

A telegram received in the city, brought the distressing news of Mr. Henry W. Chamber's death, at 5 o'clock yesterday morning, in Augusta.

Mr. Chambers was taken sick Tuesday with a congestive chill. He slipped into unconsciousness Thursday night and regained consciousness a few minutes before he died.

He received every attention from the family with which he boarded, and they were all with him when he died.

Henry Waightstill Chambers was about 29 years of age. He was the third son of Major and Mrs. Pinckney Brown Chambers, of Statesville.

He was born in Statesville, but had spent several years of his life in Charlotte. First being employed in the Western Union Office, and afterward in the train dispatcher's office at the Southern Depot. He was one of the most skillful operators in the city.

When he left Charlotte about two years ago, he went to Augusta to accept a position in the Postal Telegraph office; which position he held until the time of his death.

Henry Chambers was genial, popular and clever. He made friends wherever he went. The remains will pass through Charlotte this evening, en route to Statesville, where the interment will take place.

His brothers, J. Lenoir Chambers and Avery Chambers, along with Messrs. R.A. Evans and J.P. Caldwell will accompany his remains from Charlotte to Statesville. They were met at the station by a large number of Henry's boyhood friends.

Mrs. P. B. Chambers was in Charlotte when she received the tidings of her son's death. She left yesterday afternoon for Statesville, accompanied by Miss Maggie Rankin.

The funeral services were held at 2 o'clock P.M., March 25, and were conducted by Rev. W.A. Wood, D.D. The pall-bearers were:
Dr. J.F. Carlton, Dr. Junius Hill, J.F. Anderson, W.F. Hall, Jr., W.H. Allison and J.L. Scales.
