Jack is the son of John William and Martha Irene Shaw Clark. He lived in Liberty and Ogden all his life, and was a graduate of Weber High School and the U.S. Army Cook School. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He had a deep love for his country.

Jack married Karen in Preston, Idaho; they were later sealed in the Logan Temple.

Jack worked for Western General Dairies (Cream O' Weber). He enjoyed spending time with his family, farming, camping, hunting, baseball, and cookouts. He was a John Deere enthusiast, and liked country music. He loved going to his son's house for pancake breakfasts. He also loved his cats, Darla and Spanky.

At the time of his death, Jack was survived by his wife of 56 years, Karen, four children and their spouses, a daughter-in-law, Cindy, 18 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, a grandson, and his son, Tyrus.
