Albert Hobt was the second child and oldest son of Fredolin "Frederick or Fred" and Susannah "Susan" Bellingham Hobt. He was born in Cincinnati, Madison Co., Ohio.

On 28 October 1884 Albert Hobt married Mary Catherine "Min" Watt, of Richland Furnace, Jackson Co. Ohio.
Albert and Min Hobt were the parents of three teachers:
