She was born May 21, 1933 the daughter of John Wyant and Lily (Dunbar) Wyant in Newkirk, Oklahoma. She married her husband, Marvin Barnett, July 3, 1954 in Newkirk, Oklahoma. Marvin later passed away in 2010. Opal moved to Belton four years ago from Albuquerque, New Mexico and attended the First Baptist Church of Belton where she loved her Sunday School Class, "Ruth Class". She was a member of the Golden Age Club and enjoyed the day trips with the club. She loved cross-stitching, and was known to always stitch pot holders and pillows for Christmas gifts and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marvin Barnett; and her twin sister, Ola Howard.

Survivors include her son, Michael Barnett and wife Nita of Belton; one brother, Clyde Wyant of Mustang, Oklahoma; three sisters, Genevieve Talley, Louise Dubach, and Imogene Leach, all of Arkansas City, Kansas; two grandchildren, Heather Peterson and husband Jeff, Jonathan Barnett and wife Jennifer; and two great grandchildren, Malachi and Makaelyn Peterson, Rhian Grace Barnett and Rowen Barnett.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to The Body of Christ Clinic, 2210 Holland Rd., Belton, Texas 76513.
