Born in Dover, N.H., on March 15, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Birtha (Meserve) Foss. She attended Dover schools and graduated from McIntosh Business College.
A longtime resident of Rochester, she belonged to the First United Methodist Church in Rochester. She was an active member of Naomi Rebekah Lodge of Rochester and was Past Noble Grand and Past District Deputy.
She was past Chief Matriarch of the Ladies Encampment Auxiliary of Concord and was Past President of the Department Association of New Hampshire. Marjorie also belonged to James Farrington Eastern Star of Rochester.
She worked at the Rochester Public Library and was an avid reader. She enjoyed needlework and was an extensive traveler. Her family brought her the most joy, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her two sons, William F. Lenfest and his wife, Thomasine, of Rochester and Richard Lenfest and his wife, Carole-Lynn of Lee, Mass.; her brother, Malcolm Foss and his wife, Alice, of Dover; two sisters, Norma Wilson of York, Maine and Rene Brown and her husband, Raymond, of Stratham; her sister-in-law, Ann Foss of Dover; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, William A. Lenfest in 1997, three brothers and one sister.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 3, at 12pm in the Chapel of the RM Edgerly & Son Funeral Home, 86 South Main St., Rochester. Burial will follow in the Rochester Cemetery.
