Dr. Myron Bartlett founded the Georgia Telegraph in 1823, not long after the Georgia legislature, on 9 December 1822, had created Bibb County and named its county seat after Nathaniel Macon of North Carolina. Death of Dr, Myrin Bartlett - The Macon Telegraph of the 8th inst says: It becomes our painful duty to annouce the death, in this city, on yesterday morning, of Dr. Myron Bartlett, the former proprietor and editor of this paper. Dr. Bartlett was in his 50th year. He was a native of Bath, N.H. but has been a citizen of Georgia for the last 25 years. For nearly 20 years of this time he was connected with the newspaper press of this state, first in Savannah, and afterward in this town. The sterling integrity and merit of his character obstained for him in this situation, the respect and esteem of the good of all parties.
