PITTSFIELD, BERKSHIRE Co., MA - Mr. Harry Mapes Desmond, ( 79y ), d: August 28, 1984 - of 557 Crane Ave. died yesterday morning at Berkshire Medical Center after a long illness. Born in Pittsfield, son of Sanford and Effle Stickles Desmond, he was employed as a general foreman in the insulation and woodworking operations of General Electric Co. for 39 years, retiring in 1968 because of ill health. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners clubs. Mr. Desmond and his wife, the former Carmelita B. Burke, celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary in April. Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Harry F. Desmond of Anaheim, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Dorothy Clark of Pittsfield; four grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. jar END:
