Walter T. Day, of 185 Circle Drive, a Springfield attorney for over 50 years, died at 7:40 p.m. Monday, Aug. 4, 1969, at St. John's Hospital.

A lifetime resident of Springfield, Mr. Day was the son of Charles and Nellie Henchey Day.

A graduate of the University of Illinois Law School in 1917, Mr. Day was a captain in the U.S. Army in World War I.

He was a member of the Church of the Little Flower, Sangamon County Bar Association, Illinois State Bar Association and Civil War Round Table.

Surviving are his wife, Margaret E.; one son, Charles Thomas of New Hope, Minn.; one daughter, Mrs. Jane Simmons of Champaign; three brothers, Charles of Freeport; Vincent of Syracuse, N.Y.; and Francis of Alton; three sisters, Mrs. A.M. Fitzgerald and Miss Elizabeth Day and Mrs. B.J. Sharp, all of Springfield; five, grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

Services were at Church of the Little Flower.

Burial was in Calvary Cemetery.

Frances W. Day won a divorce in Circuit Court yesterday from Walter T. Day, lawyer and former first assistant state's attorney of Sangamon county. Mr. Day was appointed first assistant to State's Attorney William P. Roberts in 1936.

They were married Dec. 17, 1917, and are the parents of two children, both adults.

MARGARET McDOLE AND WALTER DAY
At a nuptial mass at 9 a.m. Monday in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Margaret E. McCole, niece of Miss Blanche Soutier, 408 1/2 W. Washington St., became the bride of Walter T. Day, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles D. Day, 1326 North Grand Ave. W.

Rev. Francis Cunningham performed the single ring ceremony and the attendants were Mrs. Bernard Sharp, sister of the bride-groom, and Harry Walsh.

The bride was attired in a brown lace dress with brown velvet accessories and her corsage was a green orchid.

A breakfast for the wedding party and immediate families was served in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur M. Fitzgerald, Lake Springfield, following the ceremony.

Mr. and Mrs. Day left for a trip to Asheville, N.C., and the Smoky mountain area and after Sept. 18 will be at home in Springfield.

Mr. Day is senior associate of Attorney A.M. Fitzgerald.
