Mr. Day retired in 1976 from Duncan Foundry, where he was employed as a chemical engineer metallurgist for more than 50 years. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Alton, a U.S. Army veteran, serving in World War II, a member of American Legion Post 126, Knights of Columbus Council 460 and the University of Illinois Alumni Association.
Survivors: a sister, Molly Day Sharp of St. Louis; and three nieces.
Services: Staten Funeral Home, Alton, the Rev. Dan Barron officiating. Graveside services: Oak Ridge Cemetery, Springfield.
