Funeral services for Francis A. (Hutch)Bauknecht, 60, of 2917 School St., Two Rivers, retired longtime district manager of the Mobil Oil Co. and widely-known musician and church leader, will be at 6 p.m. Saturday at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Two Rivers. The Rev. Paul Schumacher will officiate. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
Mr. Bauknecht died unexpectedly early Thursday morning while vacationing with his wife at Sun City, Ariz. Mr. Bauknecht was born June 20, 1909, at Two Rivers, a son of the late Frank and Mrs. Margaret Dahm Bauknecht. He attended St. Luke Parochial School and graduated from Two Rivers Washington High School in 1927.
He had been district sales manager of Mobil Oil Co. for 35 years, retiring Sept. 1, 1969. For a short period he served the company in Upper Michigan. One of the outstanding golfers of the area and winner of the city championship on a number of occasions, he had been a musician for more than 40 years, beginning with the fomer Fritz Gesell Orchestra after four years with the high school band. A member of the Municipal Band, he was a former president of the former Hamilton Band at Two Rivers. He also was a long-time member of the Two Rivers Rotary Club.Mr. Bauknecht had been secretary of Holy Redeemer Parish since it was established at Two Rivers. A member of Holy Redeemer Holy Name Society, he also founded the Third Order of St. Francis and was its past minister prefect.
Besides his wife, the former Victoria Marke, whom he married May 31, 1934, at Two Rivers, and his mother of Two Rivers, he leaves three daughters; two sons (Survivors omitted for privacy.); three sisters, Mrs. Matt F. C. (Eunice) Konop, Mrs. Gordon (Luella) Doolan and Mrs. Gregory (Inez) Hallada, all of Two Rivers; five brothers, Floyd, Robert and Richard, all of Two Rivers, Lyle of Appleton and John Bauknecht of Rochester, N.Y., and six grandchildren.
