Obituary: Gene Adkins
Ronald "Gene" Adkins, 56, of Columbia died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 1999, at Columbia Regional Hospital.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 17, at Memorial Funeral Home with elder Wallace Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, at the funeral home.
Mr. Adkins was born Oct. 9, 1942, in Columbia to Floyd and Margaret Turner Adkins.
He married Nancy Knipp Kirby in June 1973 in Tipton.
He was a member of Woodman of the World. He had been employed as a brick mason for more than 30 years.
Survivors include his parents of Hallsville; a son, Greg Adkins of Columbia; two brothers, Don Adkins of Columbia and Richard Adkins of Hallsville; four sisters, Phyllis Hayes of Montrose, Colo., Barbara Mueller of Ashland, Sarah Wyatt of Fulton and Cindy Driskill of Hallsville; and a grandchild.
