He was seriously wounded by the enemy near Chorwon, North Korea on April 17, 1953 and returned to duty on June 7, 1953. He participated in a heroic action near Sokkagae, North Korea and was listed as Missing in Action on July 9, 1953. He was presumed dead on July 10, 1954.
