John J. Schmitz, 50, of 929 South 24th street, died Sunday noon at the Holy Family hospital following a brief illness.

Funeral services will be held at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday at the Pfeffer funeral home and at 9:30 at the St. Boniface church, the Rev. Alfred Pritzl officiating. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery.

Mr. Schmitz was born in Manitowoc Rapids in 1895 and in 1917 married Miss Clara Massman. In 1935 they moved to this city. He had been employed at the Wisconsin Aluminum Foundry company.

He is survived by his wife; four daughters, Mrs. Alois Kaderabek of route 5, Manitowoc, Mrs. Ray Fierst of Whitelaw, Bernice and Josephine at home; son, Elmer at home; two brothers, Peter and William of Manitowoc Rapids; two sisters, Mrs. John Bruechert of this city, Mrs. Harlan Kuss of Algoma; and two grandchildren.

The body may be viewed at the funeral home after 7 o’clock tonight. The rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
