Mrs. Wernecke, nee Stella Korthauer, was born Nov. 2, 1890, in the Town of Newton, daughter of the late Fred and Minnie Groth Korthauer. She was married to Mr. Wernecke Nov. 28, 1918, in the Town of Newton and the couple resided at Manitowoc, Manitowoc Rapids, and the Town of Newton, and for the past year she has lived at St. Nazianz. Her husband died in 1957.
Survivors include two sons, Arthur, of Madison and Elton, of Rt. 3, Manitowoc; two sisters, Mrs. Christ Sanmeister, of Joliet, Ill., Mrs. Lillie Weyer, of St. Nazianz; and six grandchildren.
Friends may call at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc, after 3 p.m. Thursday until noon Friday when the casket will be taken to the church and the body will lie in state until the time of service.
