MINNIE KORTHAUER

Mrs. Fred Korthauer, 87, pioneer resident of the town of Newton, died early
Thursday at the home of her son in law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert
Wernecke of Rt. 3, Manitowoc, following a lingering illness.
Funeral services will be held at 3:15 p.m. Saturday at the Wesley Methodist
church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Donald Stannard will officiate and burial will be
in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
She was born Minnie Groth in 1866 and when a child accompanied her parents to
the town of Newton. She was married in Manitowoc to Mr. Korthauer in 1887 and
they located on a farm in the town. Her husband died in 1919.
Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Christ Sangmeister of Joliet, Ill., Mrs.
Herbert Wernecke and Mrs. Lilly Weyer of Rt. 3, Manitowoc; son, Henry of
Shakopee, Minn.; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc, after 4
p.m. Friday. The casket will be moved to the church at 10 a.m. Saturday where
the body will lie in state until hour of services.
