ROMAN H. STELZER
(1922 - 2006)

Roman H. Stelzer, age 84, a resident at St. Mary's Home, Manitowoc, died early Saturday morning, Dec. 23, 2006 at the home.

Roman was born on Dec. 19, 1922 in the Town of Franklin, son of the late George and Mary (Hanek) Stelzer. On May 16, 1942 he married the former Lillian Gadzinski at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manitowoc. She preceded him in death on May 26, 1978. Roman and Lillian operated the Club Del Rio in Manitowoc for many years. He was a welder with the Iron Workers for many years until his retirement. Roman was an avid pigeon racer and belonged to the local pigeon club.

Survivors include seven sons and four daughters-in-law: Gary and Lynn Stelzer, Dennis Stelzer, all of Manitowoc, Wayne and Sharon Stelzer, Branch, Bruce Stelzer, Manitowoc, William and Liz Stelzer, Michigan, James Stelzer, Manitowoc, Darrell and Brenda Stelzer, Clover; four daughters and four sons-in-law: Katie and Joe Rucinski, Reedsville, Maureen and Mark Wiegand, Manitowoc, Darlene and Harlan Menting, Lily, Wis., Suzanne and Pat Bries, Whitelaw; 21 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends also survive.

Roman is also preceded in death by one son: Roger; one grand daughter: Janelle; one sister: Marcella Reiderer; one brother: Lawrence Stelzer, Sr.; and an infant twin brother.

Funeral services will be held at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall on Tuesday Dec. 26, 2006 at 11 a.m. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Msgr. Jim Vanden Hogen with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Francis of Assisi-Marshall on Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2006 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m.

The Pfeffer Funeral Home and Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
