Phylis Joy Ackerman
February 1, 1935 - August 29, 2013
Phylis Joy Ackerman, 78, of Marsing, ID, passed away peacefully at home Thursday, August 29, 2013. Phylis will be missed and mourned by all who knew her.
Phylis was born February 1, 1935 in Perry, Oklahoma to Jake and Annabell Ritthaler. She was the eldest of four siblings. Her family moved in 1950 and made their home in Idaho where her father was a farmer.
Phylis graduated from Caldwell High School in 1953. She also received a degree in accounting from Fort Steilcoom Community College, WA in 1979 while raising her family.
Phylis married Arthur Ackerman April 22, 1955. They had six children and later divorced. She raised her family in Washington State, where she lived for over 30 years. In 1991, she moved back to Idaho to be closer to her parents and extended family. She always enjoyed family gatherings and travelling whenever the opportunity arose. Spending time with her grandchildren was a special joy for her.
Phylis is survived by her siblings: Rodney Ritthaler of Cortez, CO, Leo (Mary) Ritthaler of Caldwell, ID, and Lenna McCoy of Caldwell, ID. She also leaves behind her six children Juanita (Wes) Johnson of Puyallup, WA, Robin (Rhonda) Ackerman of Silverton, OR, Kelly (Betty) Ackerman of Marsing, ID, David Ackerman of Atho, ID, Mark (Lisa) Ackerman of Glen Allen, VA, and Shaun (Crystal) Ackerman of Marsing, ID, as well as her 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held September 2, 2013, 10 AM, at the Marsing Community Center, Marsing, ID. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to the Arthritis Foundation
