Jacob "Jake" Julius Ritthaler, of Huston, passed away Tuesday, August 15, 1995, at a Caldwell care center. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 18, at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Caldwell. Rev. Jim Hardenbrook, Church of The Brethren, Nampa, will officiate under the direction of Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.
Jake was born Feb. 27, 1910, at Perry, Oklahoma, a son of Jacob and Hulda Schulze Ritthaler. He was baptized into the Zion Lutheran Church. Jake attended a rural school in Noble County, Okla.
He married Annabell M. Ekhoff in her parents' home on Nov. 26, 1933, at Morrison, Okla. He was a farmer in Oklahoma until 1950 when he moved his family to Idaho, where he continued to work in the Agriculture industry. He moved to Huston, ID in 1969, where he continued to live until his death.
After he retired he liked to travel, camp, and fish. He always raised a big vegetable and flower garden. Jake especially enjoyed his grandchildren, and also his cats and dog.
He is survived by his wife; four children, Lenna M. McCoy, Phyllis Ackerman, Leo and his wife Mary Ritthaler, all of Caldwell, and Rodney and his wife Evie of Cortez, Colo.; a sister, Kathryn Petermann, of Stillwater, Okla; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-three grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and three brothers.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Shane McCoy, Rodney D. Ritthaler, Thomas Ritthaler, Kelly Ackerman, Raymond Ritthaler and David Ackerman. Honorary pallbearers will be Robin Ackerman, Randall Knutson, Michael Ritthaler, Wesley Johnson and Robert Doan.
Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, American Heart Association, or the Arthritis Foundation.
