Edward J. Wilfer, 82, of 3415 Meadow Lane, Manitowoc, died Wednesday afternoon at Veterans Hospital at Wood, Wis.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Pfeffer Funeral Home and 11 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Philip Hoffmann will officiate with burial in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. Military graveside rites will be accorded Mr. Wilfer by American Legion Drews-Bleser Post 88 of Manitowoc.

Mr. Wilfer was born Sept. 8, 1894, at Manitowoc, son of the late Anton and Rose Pfeffer Wilfer. He was a veteran of World War I, serving in the U.S. Army and was a Manitowoc resident all his life. He married Jennie Drill April 27, 1920, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Prior to his retirement in 1959, he had been employed as a crane operator for Manitowoc Engineering Co. He was a member of American Legion Drews-Bleser Post 88 and International Assn. Of Machinists Lodge No. 516.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Edward F. and Shirley Wilfer of Milwaukee and Robert and Rita Wilfer, of Stillwater, Minn.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Lorraine and Arthur Tyner, of Greenwich, Conn., Delores and John Gasiorowski of Milwaukee and Joanne and Richard Rexrode of Manitowoc; a brother, George, of Manitowoc, 17 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Three brothers, a sister and two grandchildren preceded him in death.

Friends may call at Pfeffer Funeral Home from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday, where a memorial service will be at 8 p.m.
