Sara A. Grafton, 87, of Kittanning, died Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013, at Armstrong County Health Center. Born Sept. 2, 1926, in Boggsville, she was a daughter of the late Clarence M. and Emma Estella (Steele) Beckett. A homemaker, she was a member of Worthington-West Franklin Fire Department Women's Auxiliary. She was of the Protestant faith. Sara enjoyed attending her family's sports activities, watching the Pittsburgh Pirates and game shows on TV. Her survivors include her sons, William J. (Ruthann) Grafton, Arnold J. "Red" (Bissy) Grafton, Thomas E. (Connie) Grafton, all of Kittanning; and Jerry L. (Linda) Grafton, of Ford City; a daughter, Sara Marie (Jack) Uptegraph, also of Kittanning; grandchildren, Todd Grafton, Heather Grafton, Jonathan Grafton, Jamie Hogue, Mike Uptegraph, Richard Grafton, Jarod Grafton, Kara Grafton, Keith Uptegraph and Karen Schreckengost; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Chalmer Jay "Doc" Grafton; two granddaughters, Megan Grafton and Lisa Westwood; a great-grandson, Shane Schaub; two brothers, Floyd and Leroy Beckett; and a sister-in-law, Clara Dee Beckett. Sara is also survived by her sisters, Mildred Grafton and Dorothy E. Grafton; brother, Jay Frank Beckett, and sister-in-law, Helen Beckett, all of Kittanning; and a sister-in-law, Laura Lawrence, of California. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at SNYDER-CRISSMAN FUNERAL HOME in Kittanning. Additional visitation will take place from 10 a.m. Monday until time of service at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. The Rev. John W. Snyder will officiate. Burial will be in Center Hill Church of the Brethren Cemetery.
