Jim and Alyce farmed for a few years in Sleepy Eye, MN. Jim then went to work on the pipeline and for many years they traveled the states picking fruit and were avid "rock hounds". They collected many rocks and fashioned them into jewelry which they sold in flea markets in many different states they encountered in their travels. Jim and Alyce were married 59 years and just short two months to be married 60 years when Jim died on January 7, 1994 in Wadena where they had retired.
