Funeral services for Lt Col Alfred Tyler, 72, retired principal of the Salvation Army training school here, will be held Monday June 2 at 10am at Spring Hill. Commissioner Albert E Chesham will officiate, with burial in Westview Cemetery.
Colonel Tyler assumed command of the Atlanta school in 19-- and served in that position until his retirement in 1945.
Born in London England, Colonel Tyler came to the South as commanding officer of the Tennessee-Kentucky division of the Salvation Army in 1927. He later headed the Georgia, Florida and North and South Carolina division. In 1942 he moved to Atlanta.
Colo. Tyler, who made his home at 868 Durant Pl NE, died Thursday at a private hospital.
Surviving are his wife; a daughter Mrs Glenn Proctor of Miami; a son Dr Herbert D Tyler of Thomaston; two brothers: Arthur Tyler of Oklahoma City, OK and William F Tyler of London; seven grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
