As a stone contractor, Lucas was responsible for many of the monument bases of statues at Gettysburg, such as the one of General John Buford, and of many buildings in Philadelphia, like the Edwin H. Fitler school, of which his children attended.

Father of Ursula Iacampo, Theresa Jannotta, Peter, Anthony, Mary Lehman, and 3-4 other children who died young.
