Lela M. Stiers, age 99, of Lafayette, died at 1:15 a.m. Saturday, October 5, 2013 in her residence.

Born on December 6, 1913 in Science Hill, KY, she was the daughter of the late Walter Leigh and Minnie Alice Calder Leigh.

She married Kenton R. Stiers on June 21, 1955 in Crawfordsville and he preceded her in death on August 22, 2002.

Lela worked for the former Loeb's as a drapery seamstress. She was a lifelong member of the Church of the Nazarene and enjoyed sewing, crocheting and gardening.

Surviving are her children: Shelby Lee (husb: James) of Merritt Island, FL, Glenda Koble of Flora, Joseph Stiers (wife: Deb) of AZ. Her daughter: Patricia Pickett and a grandson: Richard "Rick" T. Lee, two brothers and six sisters preceded her in death. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
