Revolutionary War Patriot. According to p. 119 of "Twenty-fifth report of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, March 1, 1921, to March 1, 1922",

"Pelton, Samuel. Buried in Pioneer Cemetery, Wellington, Ohio. Grave located by Western Reserve Chapter."

According to Revolutionary War Pension file S.3658, he enlisted in Granville, Hampden, Massachusetts and served as a private from 3 Mar 1777 to 3 Mar 1780 in Capt. Caleb Keep's Company, Col. William Shepard's Massachusetts Regiment. He was at the battle at the surrender of Burgoyne, the battle of Monmouth, and in General Sullivan's retreat from Rhode Island.
