Mrs. Newphrey (Clara) Check, 88, of 1324 S. 24th Street, Manitowoc, died Saturday, February 25, 1989 at Holy Family Medical Center, Manitowoc.

Funeral services will be 9:30 am Tuesday at Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and 10 am at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Harold Berryman and assisted by her nephew, Deacon Philip Andrastek. Burial wo;; be om St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Manitowoc.

Mrs. Check was born May 13, 1900 at Manitowoc, daughter of the late John and Anna Stryzewski Andrastek. She attended Manitowoc schools. She married Newphrey Check October 21, 1924 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Last year they celebrated 64 years of marriage together. Mrs. Check was a lifelong member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the church's Rosary and Altar Society.

Survivors include her husband, Newphrey, three daughters and sons-in-law, Esther and Sigfried Tittl, Loretta and Wallace Norkosky and Barbara and Robert Jameson, all of Manitowoc; a sister, Mrs. Alice Bonk of Manitowoc; 12 grandchildren, Susan D'Angelo, John, Tom and Mark Tittl, Mary Terrens, Wallace, James and Alan Norkosky, Nancy Gunderson, Gregory, Therese and David Jameson; 5 great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Cecilia Andrastek of Manitowoc and Viola Andrastek of Manitowoc; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.

Friends may call at Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home, Manitowoc, 4 pm to 9 pm this Monday. The Rosary and Altar Society of St. Mary Church will meet at the Funeral Home at 4 pm for a rosary service and a prayer service will be 7:30 pm this Monday led by her nephew, Deacon Philip Andrastek.
