Roberta MacKesson Smith of West Hartford, died peacefully Sunday (November 16, 2008). She was born in Westville, on February 15, 1922, the daughter of the late Robert Davis and Marguerite Warner MacKesson. An accomplished artist and avid bridge and tennis player, her life centered on her love of family, friends and the beauty of nature. She will be remembered for her sense of adventure, optimism, outgoing attitude and pride in her community, West Hartford. She was preceded in death by her twin, Barbara Alice (age 6), brother, Stanley James MacKesson and sister, Jean Marie MacKesson and her husband, L. Middlebrook Smith. She is survived by her brother, John Robert MacKesson and his wife, Janice, and Faith MacKesson, wife of Stanley. She is also survived by her sons, Robert Edward Ames of Niantic, his wife, Leslie, and David Warner Ames of Hilton Head Island, SC, his wife, Nancy and her daughter, Barbara Smith Newmans of Gainesville, Fl and her husband, Edwin. She was very proud of her seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. A Memorial Service was held on December 4, at the Pond House, Elizabeth Park, West Hartford.
