Anchorage resident DAVID LANSING VINCENT, 65, died May 7, 2000, at home after a brief struggle with cancer. He had family at his side. A visitation service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at Anchorage Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2901 E. Huffman Road.

Mr. Vincent was born Aug. 25, 1934, in Watertown, N.Y. He became a resident of Alaska in 1946 and graduated from Anchorage High School in 1952. He attended two years of college. Mr. Vincent served in the U.S. Army for two years and raced in military skiing competitions. He later taught skiing in Sun Valley, Idaho, where he met his wife of almost 34 years. He and his family moved to the Kenai Peninsula in 1968 and lived there for more than 20 years. During that time, Mr. Vincent commercial fished and was a registered guide. Mr. Vincent was an accomplished outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing. He retired from insulating with Local 97 after 24 years.

His family said: ''He will be remembered as an individual who was so generous and loving. He made friends wherever he went and truly valued his friends. He was a dedicated provider, very driven and ambitious. He taught us all so much about the importance of being honest, having integrity and being a kind and fair person. He had a contagious laugh and a wonderful sense of humor.''

He is survived by his mother, Elizabeth Vincent of Kenai; wife, Maureen Vincent of Anchorage; daughters and sons-in-law, Kathie and Quentin Farrar of Virginia, Pamela and Stephen Wright of Anchorage, and Michelle Vincent of Anchorage; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Brenda Vincent of Anchorage; brothers, Peter Vincent of Anchorage and Lynn Vincent of Kenai; sister and brother-in-law, Risa and Bob Creech of Anchorage; and 12 grandchildren. Arrangements were by Anchorage Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1057 W.
