Salome (Evenson) Haupt was born on September 27, 1928 to Elmer and Irene (Rusch) Evenson, the 5th of 6 daughters. She lived a full life till going home to her Lord on April 20, 2013 surrounded by her loving family, following years of declining health due to COPD.

On June 20, 1948, she married Robert (Bob) Haupt. They operated a dairy farm, Gjerpen Acres, in the township of Cato, previously owned by Salome's parents; and also formed Haupt Trucking, a bulk milk route to Verifine Dairy in Sheboygan. Salome was integral to the farm operation, working side-by-side with her husband, as well as bookkeeper for Haupt Trucking. She was an amazing mother to their six children, a devoted grandmother and great-grandmother. Salome will always be remembered for her sweet and loving nature and the wonderful memories she gave her family; in the holiday traditions they shared, numerous family activities throughout the years, and her cute little songs.

She was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church and Faith Lutheran Church Women (FLCW). She served as a Stephen's minister, funeral committee chair, FLCW officer including president, Sunday school teacher, and member of the altar guild. Salome participated in Bible studies including the Bethel Bible series, as well as many other church activities.

Salome was an active member of the local Homemakers group, enjoying times spent with this wonderful group of women learning new crafts and socializing. She was an avid quilter and provided each of her children with a beautiful, hand-stitched quilt that will always be treasured, all 15 grandchildren with a hand-made baby quilt, and 10 granddaughters with a doll quilt; all made with her loving hands.

Salome's life was a blessing to many and a treasure to her family. It was a wonderful journey, but the best is yet to come!

She is survived by a lucky group of people able to call her "Mom" or "Grandma". Her children: Paul (Annette) Haupt - Manitowoc, Mary Haupt - Manitowoc, Carol (Kevin) Witt - Sheboygan, Joan (Chris) Pritzl - Cato, David (Terry) Haupt - Manitowoc, and daughter-in-law Julie (Tim) Endries - Kiel. Her grandchildren: Nathan (Marcia) Haupt, Justin Haupt, Brandon Haupt, Britney (special friend Bernie Wolfram) Haupt, Serha (John) Hayden, Emily Witt, Lauren Pritzl, Kari Pritzl, Haley Pritzl, Eric Haupt, Melissa (Adam) Bubolz, Katie Haupt, Evan (fiancé Jenny Mallard) Haupt, Lindsay (Zach) Krage, and Brianna Haupt. Her great-grandchildren: Meagan Haupt and Julian Krage. She is also survived by 2 sisters, Marian Haupt and Bev (Bob) Schwister and 2 sisters-in-law, Bette Haupt, and Ramona Madson. Many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert Haupt, in 1991, her son, Mark Haupt, in 1997, an infant granddaughter, Rhonda Haupt, 3 sisters and 4 brothers-in-law: Inez (Les) Matejovetz, Violet (Bud) Burns, Clare (Wally) Kinzel, and Hubert Haupt; 1 sister-in-law and 4 brothers-in law Elroy (Hilda) Haupt, Frederick Haupt, James Madson, and Jim Haupt; and 1 niece, Susan (Burns) Hendrick.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 27, 2013, at Faith Lutheran Church, Valders. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Erica Cunningham. Entombment will be at Knollwood Chapel Mausoleum, town of Kossuth, at a later date.
