Lorene Wilson Buckles
ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. - Lorene Wilson Buckles, 86, formerly of Worland, passed away Sunday, Sep. 25, in St. Simons Island, Ga.
She was born May 10, 1919 in Worland to Lloyd W. and Hazel D. (Sweet) Wilson.
Lorene was raised and schooled in Worland. She graduated from Washakie County High School and then attended the University of Wyoming.
She met her husband, Ronald J. Buckles, while attending college. They were married June 20, 1940 in Cheyenne. After their marriage they moved frequently while he was a career army officer. Following their retirement they lived in Texas and in Georgia.
She was an active member in the United Methodist Church and helped with Meals On Wheels. She loved to be with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son, Richard Buckle, and her brother, Lloyd Leon Wilson.
She is survived by her son, Michael Buckles of Texas; daughter, Roberta Applegate of St. Simons Island; sister-in-law Beverly Smith of Worland; eight grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
It was Lorene's desire that her body be donated to medical science. Cremation will follow the donation.
