From The Crisfield Times, Crisfield, Maryland, Saturday, January 12th, 1907:

The many friends and relatives of Mr. Walter B. Coulbourn, were shocked on Monday morning last, at the receipt of a telegram announcing his sudden death in Philadelphia on Saturday evening from concussion of the brain.

Mr. Coulbourn was born and raised on his father's farm near Jones Creek, and attended the Marion High School.

At the age of 19 years, he went to Philadelphia to work with the commission house of Taylor Bros. By hard work and diligent attention to business, he was made one of the firm eight years ago and one of the firm when he died.

He leaves a father, Mr. William C. Coulbourn, who now resides at Whealton, Va., three brothers, Messrs. William F. and S. H. Coulbourn, of Baltimore, and John W. Coulbourn of this town, and two sisters, Mrs. Hattie Marshall and Mrs. Alma Lankford of Whealton, Va. He was 34 years old and unmarried.

His remains were brought home on the 2.20 train on Wednesday afternoon and carried to the home of his brother, Mr. John W. Coulbourn where services were held. The interment was in the family burial ground in the cemetery of St. Pauls.

The services were conducted by Rev. N. O. Gibson, pastor of Trinity M. P. Church. Mr. A. W. Dixon was the undertaker. The floral tributes were the most beautiful ever seen in a country town. The pallbearers were his three brothers, Mess. W. T., J. W. and S. H. Coulbourn, George Taylor, of Philadelphia, his partner and two cousins W. J. Hall and W. R. Whittington.

Some of these from a distance who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. George Taylor, of Philadelphia, Messrs. Wm. T. Coulbourn and wife, Samuel H. Coulbourn and wife, Wm. C. Coulbourn and wife, from Whealton, Va., Mrs. Hattie Marshall and Mrs. Alma Lankford, of Whealton, Va., Mr. Edwin Long and family of Westover, Mr. Carl Haynes, of New York.
