Richard S. Kujawski, age 80, of 1611 Grand Ave., Manitowoc, died Thursday morning, March 31, 2005, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc.

Richard was born May 2, 1924, in Chicago, Ill., son of the late Martin and Mary Strzyzeski Kujawski. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School, Manitowoc, with the class of 1942. Richard was a veteran of World War II serving with the United States Army from 1943 to 1946. He served with the General Patton and the 284th FABN (Field Artillery Battalion).

He married the former Ida Mae Luebke and she preceded him in death Aug. 20, 1953. On Oct. 12, 1957, he married the former Lucille Swokoske at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Richard was employed with the Manitowoc Company in the traffic management department for more than 30 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of the TPA, United Commercial Traveler's Association and the Manitowoc Senior Center.

Survivors include his wife: Lucille Kujawski, Manitowoc; a daughter: Ann Kujawski, at home; a son: Robert Kujawski, Newton; a daughter-in-law: Marilynn Johnsrud, Manitowoc; four grandchildren: Julie (Wayne) Yindra; James (Katie) Johnsrud; Jason Kujawski (special friend, Kathy); Gregg (Tracy) Johnsrud; 10 great-grandchildren: Madie, Jenny, Justin and Jacky Johnsrud; Jamie Krause; Tyler Novak; Travis and Ryan Yindra; Sam and Sarah Johnsrud; and nieces and nephews: Joanne and Jim Olm, Manitowoc; Barbara and Bill Bartelson, Arizona; and Tom and Julie Berger, Illinois. Other friends and relatives survive.

He was also preceded in death by a son: James Johnsrud; a stepbrother and stepsister-in-law: Florian and Loretta Levandowski; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Elsie and Glen Berger.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2005, at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Camillus Janas O.F.M. with burial at St. Mary Cemetery, Manitowoc. Graveside military rites will be accorded by VFW Otto Oas Post #659.

The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Manitowoc, from 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2005, until the time of service at 11 a.m. The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.

A special thank you to the nurses of Home Health Care for their wonderful care of Richard and Ann. Thank you also to the staff from Holy Family Memorial Medical Center ICU.
