Robert was born in Peoria, Illinois, October 12, 1937, to Nelson "Dutch" and Cora Worner.
Robert is predeceased by parents and sisters, Betty VanOrman and Donna Baechler.
Robert is survived by his wife, Zoe Rene (King) Worner of 55 years. They were married in Washington, Illinois, August 10, 1958. Robert is lovingly remembered by children, Barbara Worner and Chuck (Sandy) Worner; grandchildren, Nelson and Mitchell, Elaine (Mark) Ray, Alex, Cora and Samuel, Michael (Heather) Worner and Scott and Kaytlyn.
Robert was a lifelong member of the Forest City Community Church, where he served as a past board president. For over 50 years Bob was devoted to the local fire and ambulance services. He started as a volunteer firefighter, in San Jose, Illinois, then he joined the Forman Fire Protection District, where he was a volunteer for both the ambulance and fire services. He served as fire chief, then the administrator before his retirement in August 2010. Bob played the sousaphone in the University of Illinois marching band, he was a state chairman of Farm Bureau Young Leaders, as a member of the Mantio-Forest City Rotary Club, he received the Paul Harris Fellow Award and he served on the Mason County 911 Board.
Visitation will be held at Maas-Hurley Funeral Home, 301 S. Washington, Manito, Illinois, on October 25th, from 5 - 8 pm. Funeral services will be held at Forest City Community Church, October 26th at 10 am.
