Elizabeth Copeland Carter was a Christian woman with a heart of gold, and always put others first before herself, especially her children. She never spoke negatively of others in any way, and would never have done anything to hurt anyone. She was full of love, acceptance and concern for all. She was the second child and second daughter of the eight children of Jesse Thomas and Vergie Smith Copeland of Dobson, NC. She was known as Elizabeth or "Lib", and had two sisters and five brothers.

Married James Ford Carter of Rockingham, NC on March 9th, 1938, and had three daughters; Anita, Phyllis, and Janet. She was always there for ALL of her family. Loving wife, mother, sister, daughter, neighbor, church member, and loved by ALL who knew her.

Speaking about her strong Christian beliefs, she said: "I never doubted it for a minute", and the minister made a point to mention this at her service. She is truly missed.
