Ora Lee Stansell, 89, died Friday, April 9, 1993.

Mrs. Stansell was born December 21, 1903 in Collingsworth County to William and Effie Richards Forbis, early pioneers. She graduated from Wellington High School in 1920, graduating from Clarendon Junior College in 1922 and from West Texas State University in 1927 with a bachelor's degree.

She married Thomas Guy Stansell may 31, 1928 at Silverton. He died in 1968. She lived in Olton from 1928 to 1986 when she moved to Tecumseh, Nebraska. She then moved to Dimmitt in 1988.

Mrs. Stansell taught in public school for eight years. She taught at Pleasant Point and Fresno. She taught piano for more than 20 years and was a correspondent for area weekly papers for 20 years.

Within her teachings, she felt very strongly that each child should have the opportunity to develop their potential.

She was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints.

Survivors include three daughters, Ruth Carson of Wellington, Missouri; Beth Joiner of Dimmitt and Ann Carson of Tecumseh, NE; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
