Rhoda Jewell was born in Siddington, Gloucestershire, about 1839. She married George Freeman at St. Peter's church in Siddington, Gloucestershire, in 1860. She was listed as George Freeman's wife on the 1871 census of Siddington, Gloucestershire, and gave her age as 32 years old. The household included her niece, Caroline Martha Birch. (It appears Caroline had been sent to live with them perhaps because of her health and because George and Rhoda had no children of their own.) At the time of the 1881 census, the family was still living in Siddington and Rhoda was 42 years old. By the time of the 1891 census, when Rhoda was 52, George had become innkeeper at The Plough Inn, Stratton, Gloucestershire, which, as of October 2013, was still in business. She was widowed by the death of her husband, George, in May 1902. She took over management of the Plough Inn and operated it until her own death.
She married second, Thomas Telling, a stonemason, between Jul 1904 and Sep 1904.
Rhoda died in Jan 1909 at The Plough Inn in Stratton near Cirenceser, Gloucestershire, at age 70 years. Her body was laid to rest on 9 Jan 1909 in grave 27-C next to her first husband, George Freeman, at Stratton Cemetery in Cirencester, Gloucestershire.
